Permission Based Email Marketing Campaigns

The heart of marketing lies on competitive strategies that a businessman uses in order to catch attention and encourage people to buy the products being offered. These strategies revolve around different materials and media used in conducting the campaign. In many ways the medium is the message, as McLuhan argued, and the implicit message that is embedded in the format by which your message is delivered must be incorporated into the message itself. This allows you to set up a congruent and comprehensive marketing strategy that will work in a given medium.

With email marketing, the basic method is to simply send messages to a given list of email addresses. This enables the marketer to contact users online, where they are frequently available and ready to receive information. But you also must take into account the way that people use email as a communication medium, in order to understand how your message will be received and processed.

One component of email marketing is the permission-based marketing campaign. This simply means sending solicited mails to customers who have permitted you to contact them. These people are your subscribers who agreed to be part of your list, and are open to receive newsletters from your company. It would even make your campaign more effective if you ask these people to confirm their subscription. In this way, you will be sure that the people included in your email list are interested to see what you have to offer and that your mails will not go directly to the junk mail.

Permission based email marketing works as follows:

  1. Using a system or software that manages your mailing list. You will need a kind of email management software to take care of your subscribers and create your newsletters.  You can either pay for such software program or ask somebody to do the job for you.
  2. Set up a sign-up button on your website where your online visitors can apply for subscription.
  3. Create an email template to add substance to your newsletters.
  4. Write a simple, compelling and straightforward newsletter that covers all the information about your business and the services that you offer.
  5. Test your newsletter first before sending them out to make sure that it appears exactly how you want it to be.
  6. Finally, send the newsletter and monitor your bounce statistics.
